2025 PwC All-Star Hurling Winners – Tipperary Profiles
Rhys Shelly – Goalkeeper
Cool, composed, and courageous — Rhys Shelly’s performances between the posts were the foundation of Tipp’s success. His sharp reflexes, pinpoint puck-outs, and commanding presence under pressure made him one of the standout goalkeepers of the season. Whether producing match-defining saves or launching attacks from the back, Shelly epitomised confidence and control. His first All-Star is a testament to his consistency and maturity far beyond his years.
Robert Doyle – Corner Back
One of the breakout stars of the championship, Robert Doyle brought youthful energy and fearless defending to the Tipperary rearguard. His pace, reading of the game, and tight marking regularly nullified some of the most dangerous forwards in the country. Calm in possession and relentless in pursuit, Doyle’s debut All-Star marks the arrival of a new generation of Premier defenders ready to lead into the future.
Eoghan Connolly – Wing Back
Strong, uncompromising, and assured, Eoghan Connolly anchored the Tipp defence with authority all year. His ability to dominate aerial battles and organise the players around him made him a crucial figure in Ronan Maher’s leadership team. Connolly’s blend of physicality and poise under pressure brought real solidity to the back line, earning him deserved national recognition and his first All-Star award.
Ronan Maher – Centre Back
Captain, leader, inspiration — Ronan Maher once again led by example, guiding Tipperary back to All-Ireland glory and now adding another All-Star to his decorated career. His reading of the game, defensive intelligence, and trademark distribution set the tone from the heart of the defence. Under Maher’s captaincy, Tipp found both direction and belief, and his leadership was central to their 2025 triumph. Few honours could be more fitting than this latest accolade.
Andrew Ormond – Centre Forward
Andrew Ormond’s tireless work rate and relentless drive made him the heartbeat of Tipp’s forward unit. Always willing to chase, challenge, and create, Ormond’s contribution often went beyond the scoreboard — providing link play, physical presence, and unselfish running that opened space for teammates. His All-Star reflects the recognition of a player whose commitment and consistency were key ingredients in Tipperary’s success.
Jake Morris – Half Forward
One of the most electrifying forwards in the modern game, Jake Morris lit up the 2025 Championship with pace, precision, and scoring power. Time and again, he delivered when it mattered most — from dazzling individual points to decisive goals in crucial moments. Nominated for Hurler of the Year, Morris’s third All-Star confirms his place among the elite and underscores his importance as Tipperary’s attacking spearhead.
John McGrath – Full Forward
The ultimate big-game performer, John McGrath’s leadership and finishing ability were central to Tipp’s championship charge. With ice in his veins and an instinct for the spectacular, McGrath produced defining moments when his county needed them most — not least in the All-Ireland Final. His All-Star, alongside his Hurler of the Year nomination, is recognition of a season of brilliance from one of Tipperary’s most trusted and decorated servants.
